punks.generated is generative art built from the summed pixels of all 10,000 CryptoPunks. Each mint gets a seed; the seed picks an algorithm, palette and background, and the punk is rendered from it, the same every time.

The background here is a live wall of 2,500 sample punks. Move your cursor (or drag a finger) to flip them.

Traits

Algorithm — 12 methods. Consensus, Collapse, Archetype and Rare Blood ~15% each; Lineage, Mirror, Strata, Annealed, Shards, Rare Archetype, Soft Collapse and Inked ~5% each.
Palette — usually natural colours. Game Boy ~2.5%; NES, CGA, PICO-8, C64, Spectrum, Sepia, Virtual Boy, Gold/Black, Silver/Black 0.5% each; Mac 1-bit 0.25%.
Background — Solid, Palette or Gradient. Gradients are always one hue, in Bold or Subtle (50/50).
Laser eyes, accents and more come from the seed too.

Art is generated by code; what you get is what your seed renders. No refunds on-chain.

Renderer

During the mint, images come from a render service. Afterwards the full renderer (generator + pixel dataset) is published to IPFS and linked from ENS text records on punks.generated.eth, so anyone can re-render every punk from its seed and check it.
